See the women’s suffrage movement brought to life with a screening of Suffragette (2015), inspired by the current display of material from the British Suffragette Movement drawn from the Krystyna Campbell-Pretty AM and the Campbell-Pretty Family Suffrage Research Collection.
Includes a post-screening talk on the Australian women’s suffrage movement by historian Clare Wright.
Starring Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep and Helena Bonham Carter, Suffragette (2015) tells the story of the women’s suffrage movement in the UK.
The screening marks the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), an international treaty adopted by the United Nations General Assembly and enacted on 3 September 1979.
