Women's suffrage and economic empowerment: panel discussion

  • Pridham Hall UniSA City West Campus 211/213 Hindley Street Adelaide, SA, 5000 Australia (map)

The Women in Economics Network is hosting a panel discussion to celebrate the 125th anniversary of women's suffrage in South Australia.

Join panellists Annabel Crabb, Clare Wright and Senator Penny Wong, in conversation with Tory Shepherd, to explore women's suffrage and economic empowerment.

The event will celebrate our successes: women in South Australia not only won the right to vote, but the ability to stand for parliament, before their peers across Australia and the rest of the world. It will also acknowledge that we still have some way to go before our rights translate to equal representation, and what this means for our ability to participate in the decision-making that matters.

This event would not be possible without the grant provided by the Office for Women; the kind support of our sponsors, the University of South Australia, the Women in Economics Network, the Economic Society of Australia; and the contributions of our speakers and community.

Please arrive at 5.00 pm for a 5.15 pm start, and bring a paper or electronic copy of your ticket. We will be serving refreshments and a grazing table following the conclusion of the panel discussion.

There are a limited number of complimentary tickets available for secondary school students and people who are unwaged. Please email wen@esasa.org.au to enquire.
