Clare is a popular public speaker, known for her wit, charm and insightful communication of history and public affairs. Clare has been a keynote speaker, panelist and chair at events including the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the Supreme Court of Victoria, Australian Republican Movement state conferences, the City of Melbourne’s Melbourne Conversations series, Community Aid Abroad, Sovereign Hill, the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka, the National Library of Australia and the National Archives of Australia. Clare is a frequent guest speaker at community organisations such as U3A, Rotary, Legacy and local historical societies. One of Clare’s favourite things is speaking to school students, which she does frequently as an Ambassador of the Stella Prize Schools Program. Clare recently had the honour of undertaking a four-city speaking tour of China, sponsored by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian Embassy in Beijing as part of Australian Writers Week.
